As many of you have seen, my sweet Sunshine has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. I am doing everything I can to make sure she has the best senior years possible, and I would spend my last dime on her medical care. Actually, I have spent my last dime on it. A few folks mentioned that they would like to contribute to her veterinary bills, and I am not going to turn down the help. She is doing much better than she was since we increased her dosage of the diuretic, but she will need further check ups, more medicine, and more of her fancy food. If you wish to make a donation to help me give this beautiful angel baby what she needs, I have set up a donation button on my website. Anything is appreciated, but nothing is expected. I know we all have our own struggles, but I will try just about anything at this point. Thank you for all of your support and love. It’s so helpful to have good people in my life.

Our Story

It was a chilly day just before Spring in 2007 when I first met my sweet Sunshine. My husband and I had recently purchased a computer that could record my music and then tossed the box out by the dumpster. We were getting ready to head out of town for a couple of days and he decided to double check the box to make sure he didn’t leave any warrantee information inside. When he opened it up, there she was, snuggled up in the Styrofoam keeping warm. She was tiny and covered in grease. She couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6 months old at the time. He struggled with the decision to put the box on the side of the building, but worried that someone would end up throwing it back in the dumpster with her along for the ride. He decided to tell me about the kitten.

She was still in the box when I first laid eyes on her through the opening where we had cut into it to keep the product information. I saw two giant ears on a tiny little head. I asked her if she wanted some ham and she made an adorable little purr/meow sound. Once I got her to eat, she began purring ferociously. We brought her inside and she followed us all around. Unsure of what to do, we went out and got her some cat food and set the box up outside. We had to leave and I can’t believe we left her there. When we got home the next day, she was nowhere to be found. We were regretful and devastated since neither one of us could stop thinking about her. We canceled all of our plans and moped around running to the window every time we thought we heard her. The following day, as my husband was loading equipment for a gig, she popped her little head out of the bushes and meowed “hey, you got any more ham?” Once I saw her little feet on the balcony I opened the door, grabbed her up, and have never let her go since.

It was obvious in the beginning that Sunshine and I were bonded. She decided early on that I was going to be the one person she loved and trusted. She had a decent relationship with my husband too, but it was not the same. She has been my best friend and angel baby for the last 12 years. She has comforted me through some of the most difficult times of my life and I swear she is more loyal than any dog I’ve known. Sunshine has never failed me and I certainly don’t intend on failing her. She has been the most perfect cat anyone could ever dream of loving.

I was devastated to learn that my sweet girl has Congestive Heart Failure. They thought it might be cancer at first, but I took her to a different vet and we got to the bottom of it. I have exhausted many of my resources trying to get her the care she deserves and I am just out of funds. She has a lot of life and fight left in her and I can tell that she is still wants to be around. In order to keep her healthy, she will require more medication, more check ups at the vet, and possibly another chest tap or two. She is a super picky eater right now, so I have been spending a ton of money trying to find her favorite snacks to keep her excited about eating.

At this point, I am trying to raise between $500 & $1000 to cover her current health care costs and also to help with some debt I have accrued paying for some of this on high interest credit cards. We will do anything for our fur babies, right? If you can contribute in any way I would be eternally grateful. I love my girl so much.

Thank you for reading this, supporting me during this difficult time, and for your contributions in my life and hers.
